Litmus Gallery and Studios proudly presents the exceptional 2-D and 3-D work of Pierce Boshelly.  Pierce Boshelly has exhibited all over the world, including New York City and Italy (such as the International Sculpture Exhibition) and more exotic places like North Carolina. He has developed several distinctive styles of both painting and sculpture and he composes music which he uses for slide shows of his artwork( youtube channel “Boshelly works”).

Confessions of a Concentration Camp Guard

In 2004, while working in a Foundry in Italy, Pierce’s boss revealed to him a secret: He had been a guard at a Concentration camp in Czechoslovakia. Being somewhat horrified, Pierce didn’t know what to do with the information.

After the man died in 2008, Pierce told his story. His boss was a young 20 year old Italian soldier at the beginning of the War. After Italy surrendered to the allies, Germany swept in and captured him in the process of taking over much of northern Italy.

After repeated threats to him and his family, he was taken to the concentration camp in Czechoslovakia where he was forced to be a guard. The artwork in the show is inspired by his revelation.

Stephan Hermann will play sax and flute during the First Friday artist reception on March 1.
