FIGURE STUDY- SCULPTING A TORSO

These four 3-hour sessions are designed to give participants the opportunity to enhance and invigorate their creativity through the study of the nude male and nude female figure.  Sessions will allow practice in observing, interpreting, and accurately representing the human torso form.  Emphasis will be on using clay to create sculptures that capture the essence of figurative poses/gestures.  Individualized instruction will enable each participant, beginners and advanced artists, to work at their own pace.  Figurative artists interested in the Realist Art Movement and who work in 2-D and 3-D art forms can benefit from these sessions.  The male model will pose Wednesdays, 6:30-9:15 pm, November 14 & 28.  The female model will pose Saturdays, 1:30-4:15 pm, November 17 & December 1.

The workshop fee for all 4 sessions is $85, or $65 for two sessions with either the male or female model.  The fee covers the use of sculpting stand, model fee, studio facility, and bisque firing of finished sculptures.  Water-based clay will be available for purchase at the first session for $15 per twenty-five pound bag.  Payment is due at the first session attended and can be by cash or check/money order made out to James Fatata (sorry no credit cards).  Sessions are limited to eight participants and will be held at Litmus Gallery & Studios at 312 W. Cabarrus Street in downtown Raleigh. Those wishing to attend must reserve a space in advance.  Notification will be sent to those requesting a space as to whether there is a space for them or if they are on the "wait list".  Additional information or to register for the workshop: This email address is being protected from spambots.
