CALL FOR ART
Transitivity - February 2-21 2018
First Friday reception, February 2, 6:00pm-9:00pm
OK, you rebel artists listen up! Are you tired of seeing that soulless, generic, nonart that frequently attempts to class up the walls of businesses and even some homes! It is Crazy that it happens when there is so much original art available. You are invited to participate in a radical statement making art exhibit. For this exhibit artists will transform a generic reproduction or mass produced nonart into an original, one of a kind work of art. This is a non- juried exhibit.
In conjunction with this exhibit, at Litmus Gallery, on February 3, 1:00pm, Leatha Koefler will lead an open discussion on what to look for when you buy Art.
Step Two-work your magic: The Artists will transform the reproduction into a work of unique art by working directly on top of it. Artists may use any style or genre (abstract, conceptual, highly realistic, etc.), any medium to transform the reproduction. However 10% of the reproduction must remain visible. That 10% can be in one area or it can be broken into many little parts.
Step Three-deliver your art: There is a nonrefundable entry fee, in cash or check/money order (made out to Leatha Koefler), due at the time of delivery: $20 for one entry, $25 for two and $30 for three entries. Deliver your transformed reproduction ready to hang, along with the completed entry form to Litmus Gallery, 312 W. Cabarrus St, Raleigh, January 25 or 27 10:00am – 2:00pm.
