Each month, Litmus Gallery & Studios offers local artists the opportunity to exhibit their work for a full month in our gallery. We also have juried shows with multiple artists on an ongoing basis. All exhibits at Litmus can be viewed as part of downtown Raleigh’s First Friday ArtWalk, from 6pm to 9pm on the first Friday of each month.

Throughout history, humans have marked their bodies with tattoos.  These permanent designs, sometimes plain, sometimes elaborate, always personal, have served as amulets, status symbols, declarations of love, signs of religious beliefs, and adornments.  The ‘body art’ culture and practice of tattooing is thriving in all levels of society.

As a special feature of its annual ‘Exposed: Nudes in Art 2018’ exhibition, Litmus Gallery is pleased and delighted to highlight and pay tribute to the artistry of tattooing at its Friday, April 6: 6-9 pm wine reception.  Come join us to discover how today’s artists explore and represent the human form in over 50 original works of art, indulge your taste buds in drink and snacks, mingle and glimpse the tattooed art of likeminded people, network with local artists/photographers who hire models for creating figurative art, and best of all, have a chance to win a $50 door prize.  All attendees present between 7:15 pm and 7:30 pm, who have a tattoo that is visible, will be given a ticket for a drawing at 8 pm for a $50 cash door prize (must be present to win).
